Our guest on today’s podcast has been involved in the Outdoor Industry in Manitoba for a number of years. He has worked as the Managing Director of the Manitoba Wildlife Federation and the Executive Director of the Manitoba Lodges and Outfitters Association.
Dr. Brian Kotak is the President of Miette Environmental Consulting Inc., a small firm he initiated 17 years ago. Through his firm he has worked on contract for several non-profits including as the General Manager of the Manitoba Model Forest (later as the General Manager of the Canadian Model Forest Network). His work on water quality, fisheries and wildlife management and environmental impact assessment all have a common theme – involvement of stakeholders and indigenous peoples in decisions affecting natural resources. Brian holds BSC and MSC degrees from the University of Manitoba and a PHD from the University of Alberta. He worked for several years in the forest industry as well as for Black River First Nation, as their Environment Director. Brian currently coordinates the Collaborative Stock Monitoring Program in Manitoba.
