A WORLD CLASS FISHERY
Anyone familiar with Eagle Lake knows how good the fishing is. I could write this whole article about all the great things about Eagle Lake and not mention the fishing, but I would be remiss.
Eagle Lake is a fishing paradise. Home to almost every major species of sport fish in Northwestern Ontario. Bass, perch, walleye and sauger. Pike and musky. Lake trout and whitefish. It has it all, and Eagle Lake holds the potential to provide trophy class fish in every category.
Walleye may be the most popular species to fish for, and thankfully a ban on night fishing years ago has brought the walleye population back to staggering numbers. Found on every corner of the lake, walleye are extremely fun and easy to fish for.
Eagle Lake gets overlooked as a bass fishing destination, that’s a mistake. Eagle Lake is home to some of the best smallmouth bass fishing in Sunset Country. Every year anglers are finding out just how good of a fishery this is.
OH THOSE MUSKIES!
Ask a musky angler about Eagle Lake and you’ll get the “bucket list” answer. Rightly so. Eagle Lake is world class in every sense of the term. Musky anglers for generations have come to Eagle Lake to chase the fish of 10,000 casts.
Old timers tell stories of muskies pulling row boats around in the 1950’s, anglers unable to land them. Modern stories include fish in the 60” length range. Eagle Lake has a mystique about it in the musky world, a potential world record fish could roam these waters. Every cast on these hallowed waters is a chance at immortality among the musky community.
PLAN YOUR TRIP AND YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED
Eagle Lake should be on everyone’s list of destination lakes. Whether you come from the United States or from within Canada, from near or far, you owe it to yourself to visit Eagle Lake. The fishing will bring you back again but the beauty and heritage of this area will stick with you long after you’ve reeled in your last fish.
