It’s no secret that Lake Winnipeg Walleye and Sauger populations are in serious trouble. The Manitoba Wildlife Federation (MWF), along with several other angling and fishery advocacy groups and concerned citizens, are sounding the alarm over decades of mismanagement of the Lake Winnipeg fishery and the resultant collapse and near extirpation of species from this great lake. Here you can find the results of the Lake Winnipeg Walleye Economic Survey as well as the Methodology involved in creating the survey and its results.

How you can help. Write a letter to your MLA urging them to put the above recommendations in place as soon as possible so that we can halt the extirpation of Sauger and Walleye on Lake Winnipeg, and help the fish populations rebound so that the fishery is once again healthy and productive.
