LAKE WINNIPEG – ROGER GERES
Made the trip again to lake Winnipeg and the weather was incredible! We caught some nice fish with Matt and his crew from Bruin Outfitting. The two biggest being my 29.75” and Susan s 29.5”. Spoons in the mornings for us and jigs in the afternoon seemed to be a pattern, all tipped with minnows. Being on the move to stay on the fish seemed to be important again. Golds and oranges were colors for us that we favoured in14-17’ of water. Travel was fairly easy for the most part but Just try to avoid the ridges and bigger drifts.
Here is big fish Susan Geres with another giant.
SASKATCHEWAN
The Saskatchewan fishing season shuts down March 31st so you have a weekend left in the south and central regions.
Cindy Ouellet who owns and operates T&D Amisk Camp caught this 43.5 inch monster this past week. Cindy doesn’t get to fish much because of all the work involved in owning a lodge but judging by that smile I say when she does get out she enjoys it!
Cindy is my next guest on my Complete Angler podcast that I will be posting on Wednesday. Look forward to making it up to see her and her husbands camp in September along with friend Wes David.
ALBERTA – WES DAVID, Host & Producer of Fishing the Wild West TV.
The Edmonton Boat & Sportsmen’s Show (EBSS) held at the Edmonton Expo Center, on March 20-23, was a huge success. Seven halls were filled with everything hunting and fishing, and all seven halls were filled with avid outdoorsmen and women enjoying everything outdoors inside the Expo Center. There were many highlights to the EBSS, such as hunting and fishing booths, conservation, the latest and greatest outdoor clothing and products, and the Wild TV Outdoor Stage was filled with informative speakers and topics.
I received one of the most pleasant surprises of my career on the Saturday on stage just before I started my seminar. The management of the sports shows surprised me on the Wild TV Outdoor Stage with a Thank You card signed by everyone and a bottle of Caribou Canadian Whiskey, celebrating both my 10 years of working with the western Canadian Sports Shows and celebrating 10 years of Fishing the Wild West TV. It was a great honor, and I would like to thank everyone I have worked with at the sports shows over the last 10 years and everyone who has supported Fishing the Wild West TV over the last 10 years.
Thank you all for your time and support!
As for the last week of the Alberta ice fishing season, due to the weather being extremely warm across Alberta during the last two weeks (low to mid-teens), most ice fishing conversations at the EBSS were about pulling ice shacks off the hardwater before the ice gets too soft. Many ice anglers had a great March on the hardwater, but due to the warm weather, many Alberta ice anglers are choosing to put their ice fishing gear away a little early.
We will see what April holds!
