PIMP OUT YOUR RIDE NOW
By the time I was 16, I had saved enough money to purchase my first truck. I can still remember it, a 1983 Ford F-150. It was nothing more than a beat-up farm truck but to me, armed with a driver’s license, it meant a world of freedom.
I went to work on it immediately, cleaning, tuning up the engine. I had saved my money and replaced the ugly cracked bench seat with bucket seats, the best stereo and speakers I could afford, and I even installed a Cheech and Chong crammed chain-link steering wheel. In my mind, I pimped out my old F-150 into the ultimate chick magnet.
Looking back now, I don’t remember a lot of chicks being in my truck, and maybe I wasted a lot of my hard-earned money, but I was proud of my truck and even shed a tear when I sold her three years later. Today, I still drive a Ford F-150 but when I pimp out my ride, it’s for comfort and convenience and it’s my boat that gets the attention, not my truck.
ROCKGARD
It’s common for anglers to trailer their boat down some less-than-ideal roads. Gravel, broken asphalt, and a variety of other road debris can all take their toll on the exterior of our boats when in tow, especially the bow of your boat.
PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT!
Our boat is an investment, so the first thing I invest in to protect my boat is a RockGARD from SJ. Design Inc. It is simply a barrier that mounts to the front of your trailer and protects the bow of your boat when in tow. They come in a wide variety of sizes to accommodate a wide variety of boat and trailer sizes. RockGARD is easily installed and removable and does not interfere with loading or unloading your boat in any way. It is Canadian-made and a very inexpensive way to protect your boat from the harsh realities of gravel, broken rock, and other road debris while in tow.
ELIMINATE COSTLY BOAT TARP REPAIRS
Anyone who has ever had to get their boat tarp repaired or even replaced knows how expensive it can be. The number one wear point on a boat tarp is where the tarp passes over the windshield. The tarp covers the entire boat and is strapped down tight. However, in transport, the wind is forced under the tarp and through your boat creating a wind tunnel. Your tarp is now forced to rub against the frame of your windshield as you travel down the highway creating rub sores and weakening the tarp material along the top of the windshield frame eventually costing you hundreds of dollars in tarp repairs or even worse.
SIMPLE FIX
Boaters can eliminate costly boat tarp repairs for a mere $2.00. Purchase a simple pool noodle. Cut it lengthways the entire length of the pool noodle. You can now open the pool noodle just like a hotdog bun. Before you place your tarp over the windshield of your boat, place the pool noodle over the frame of your windshield and continue to tarp your boat. Now as you travel down the highway your tarp rests or rubs on a soft pool noodle not an aluminum windshield frame saving you hundreds of dollars in tarp repairs.
SPARE PROP
It has happened to us all, and if it hasn’t, it eventually will so be prepared. Damaging or losing a prop while you’re on the water can be a huge problem.
It has only happened to me once, knock on wood, but had I not had a spare prop and the tools to change it out, I may have had to spend the night on the lake. I was slow trolling with the big motor on a northern Saskatchewan lake when out of nowhere the water depth went from 12 feet of water to less than two feet of water. Before I could react my prop struck the rock beneath the boat and took out the inner rubber hub-sleeve like it’s designed to do.
However, so many boat owners, leave the boat launch without the parts and tools to make these simple repairs on the shoreline and it can end up ruining their day on the water. Now is the perfect time to purchase a secondary prop, inner bushing, and the tools to replace the prop and bushing. Having the second prop in your boat and the tools to change it can eliminate a lost day or even weekend of fishing and a lot of cursing and paddling.
RAM MOUNTS
A simple and inexpensive way to pimp-out your ride and provide simplicity and comfort are Ram Mounts for your fishfinder(s). Other than the initial mounting and install of your fishfinder(s), little thought is put into the wide variety of conditions they will be used in.
You just spent your hard-earned money on fishfinder(s) investing a few more dollars to mount your fishfinder(s) on adjustable Ram Mounts can and will make all the difference in the world when you’re on the water. Imagine, the simplicity when within a few seconds you can adjust your fishfinder(s) to eliminate the sun’s glare or positions your fishfinder(s) so you can see them from wherever you’re fishing in the boat. Ram Mounts also allow you to remove your fishfinders within seconds before tarping and trailering your boat.
POWER POLES AND DRIFT PADDLES
One product mounted on my boat and now that I have them, I’m not sure I could ever fishing without them again, are Power-Poles and Power-Pole Drift-Paddles. Power-Poles are a shallow water anchor system that took the bass fishing world by storm. However, Power-Poles equipped with Power-Pole Drift Paddles has greatly aided me on the water when drift speed and boat control is crucial. These are especially helpful when I’m bottom-bouncing and Lindy Rigging for subtle biting walleye.
The Power-Poles themselves are not only ideal when fishing shallow water bass, but also shallow water northern pike, musky, and many other fish. (Pull Quote)
GREAT BOAT CONTROL
Using the Power-Poles equipped with Drift Paddles, I can maintain precision boat control in current conditions, wind conditions, and using the Power-Pole Drift Paddles and my trolling motor together, I can maintain exact boat speed, boat position, and boat control from my remote anywhere in the boat and I never have to fuss with anchors or windsocks. The Power-Poles and Drift Paddles is one tool that has proven to help me land more fish, especially during tough fishing conditions.
The open water season is right around the corner. Now is the time to Pimp-Out your ride for the new season.
