Len Thompson Lures started the Fishing for Food Banks Lure Sale in 2020 and raised over $24,000 that year by donating 50% of the profits to 29 Canadian community food banks. They are continuing the program this year. They generously donated $500 to Hooked Magazine’s local Food Bank of choice, and we matched their donation making it $1000.
We then contacted Red River Co-op to purchase food, and their District Manager Paul Jackson agreed to give us a 10% discount on the food, so we could buy even more!
The store manager at the Seasons Co-op, Jessica Lowther, was kind enough to prepare our order based on the top 10 items requested by Harvest Manitoba, our local food bank. When we arrived, it was all ready on a cart for us to take away!
We arrived at Harvest Manitoba, with Don Lamont’s truck loaded with food, and a surprised worker helped us unload. She asked us if we wanted it weighed, so we did, and it was over 600 lbs of food!
Happy Thanksgiving, and thanks Len Thompson Lures for the great community support!
