Don Lamont - The Complete Angler Don Lamont has been a full time professional angler for 41 years, hosting and producing the award winning “The Complete Angler” television series for fifteen of those. Don has received several awards for his commitment to public education and the future of recreational fishing in Canada. Don had a regular fishing column in the Winnipeg Free Press for 30 years and is currently editor of Hooked Magazine. He also recently took on the role of Executive Director of the Manitoba Lodges and Outfitters, if he wasn't busy enough already! MANITOBA Rain, rain and more rain is making a good rain suit a necessity these days on the water. This certainly has helped the forest fire situation in many parts of the province. and raised some low water levels in lakes and rivers. MANITOBA As our rivers and lakes start to open up just a reminder that the new 2024 Manitoba Angling license comes into affect on May 1st. You can purchase your license online and the cost of the license for Manitoba residents is $22 for the year, a pretty darn good price compared to a lot of other jurisdictions. You can also purchase a one day license for $8. For seniors 65 and over, active military or veterans there is no license required. Lake Winnipeg has been producing some really solid fishing for numbers and size of walleye. WINTER HAS RETURNED A Colorado low is sweeping across the prairies making travel risky but bringing snow and cooler temperatures to western Canada. Caution is advised on the ice as conditions are inconsistent with the last couple of weeks of warmer weather.
